Instant grading on the writing parts of the exam allows students to 

• do more writing practice without giving teachers more marking to do
• do realistic and timed writing practice in the same format as the real exam
• get an idea of how they will perform on the writing part of the exam

 

The iTests essay grading tool has been developed to grade writing tasks according to the same criteria as the actual exam. Each automatically graded question on iTests is tested against human marker scoring levels. Only once the automatic grading reaches the same level of reliability as human markers do we make our questions available to students. 

Automatically graded writing tests are now available for PET, FCE and CAE. Students just select the writing test they want to complete and write an answer to the question provided on screen. After clicking submit, students will receive a test report giving an overall score as well as individual scores on each of the criteria which are graded in the writing paper of the real exam.

 

For a limited time, we are also offering a FREE marking service to teachers and institutions for PET, FCE, CAE and IELTS practice writing tests. We provide set exam style prompts for the writing parts of the exam which you can give to your class. Your students will write their essays online and we will have them marked by experienced exam markers and the scores sent to you.
